  23. If you have a high resolution monitor (set to thousands or millions of
  24. colors) it is recommended that you reset your system to 256 colors for
  25. optimal performance.

  28. INSTALL PROCEDURES
  29.  
  30. Apple MacintoshÆ & Power MacintoshÆ
  31.  
  32. 1) Put the Old Testament Foundations CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  33.  
  34. 2) Double click on the Old Testament icon on your desktop. This will 
  35. open a window with the contents of the CD-ROM.
  36.  
  37. 3) Double click on the Old Testament Installer file and follow the 
  38. instructions on your screen. Your Macintosh needs to be restarted 
  39. after installation is complete. You need to have 11 MB of available 
  40. space on the hard disk.
  41.  
  42. 4) To launch the product, insert the Old Testament Foundations CD-ROM 
  43. into your CD-ROM drive. Open the Discovery InteractiveÆ folder on your
  44. hard disk. Open the Old Testament folder and double click on the Old 
  45. Testament icon.
  46.  
  47. 5) If, in the future, you add Bible module "upgrades," they should 
  48. also be installed on the hard drive.
  49.  
  50. 6) If you possess both Old Testament Foundations Volume 1 and 
  51. Volume 2, only one installation procedure is necessary.
  52.  
  53. 7) Note: Please refer to the Read Me file on the CD-ROM for 
  54. troubleshooting.

  56. PC Compatible running WindowsÆ 3.1 or WindowsÆ 95
  57.  
  58. 1) Put the Old Testament Foundations CD-ROM into your CD-ROM drive.
  59.  
  60. 2) To Install Discovery InteractiveÆ, choose RUN from the File menu 
  61. in the Program Manager or File Manager. (For WindowsÆ 95, click on 
  62. Start and then select Run.) Type D:\INSTALDI\SETUP in the entry box. 
  63. If D is not your CD-ROM drive, use the appropriate letter. Click OK 
  64. and follow the instructions on your screen. There must be 14 MB of 
  65. available hard-disk space.

  67. 3) Restart your machine
  68.  
  69. 4) To launch the product, insert the Old Testament Foundations CD-ROM 
  70. into your CD-ROM drive. Open the Discovery Interactive Program Group 
  71. on your hard disk and double click on the Old Testament icon. (For 
  72. WindowsÆ 95, click on Start, then select Programs, Discovery 
  73. Interactive and finally Old Testament.)

  75. 5) If, in the future, you add Bible module "upgrades," they should

  86. HOW TO OPEN SAVED NOTES OR TEXT FILES FROM YOUR HARD DISK

  88. How to open Notes or text saved through Old Testament Foundations 
  89. using a word processor:

  91. Apple MacintoshÆ and Power MacintoshÆ:
  92.  
  93. 1) Launch your word processor.
  94.  
  95. 2) Using the Open File capabilities of your word processor, open the 
  96. file you want.
  97.  
  98. a) The notes reside in a folder named "NOTES" in your Old Testament 
  99. folder on your hard disk.
  100.  
  101. b) Any file that is saved from the Old Testament program resides in a 
  102. folder named "SAVEFILE" in your Old Testament folder on your hard 
  103. disk.

  106. PC Compatible:

  108. 1) Launch your word processor.
  109.  
  110. 2) Using the Open File capabilities of your word processor, open the 
  111. file you want.

  125. TROUBLESHOOTING
  126.  
  127. MacintoshÆ/Power MacÆ:
  128.  
  129. For machines with low RAM configurations (12 Mb or less), the EXPLORE 
  130. button will not launch the Bible Source product. In these cases, a 
  131. blank dialog box will appear with a "-108" printed in the lower left 
  132. corner of the dialog box. This is because the system does not have 
  133. enough free memory available. To solve this problem, your 
  134. configuration must have 16 Mb of physical RAM, or you need to turn 
  135. virtual memory ON.
  136.  
  137. To turn virtual memory on, you need to open the "Memory" System 
  138. Control Panel. Select "Virtual Memory" ON.  A box with a default 
  139. allocation for virtual memory will appear. Use the up and down arrows 
  140. to adjust the size of memory you would like to use as virtual memory. 
  141. For optimal performance assign a value that follows the formula: 
  142. (Available built in memory x 2) + 1. Restart your computer.

  145. PC Compatibles:
  146.  
  147. 1. If you are using WindowsÆ 95 and you have a Media Vision Pro Audio 
  148. Spectrum 16 audio card, you might experience problems with the audio 
  149. playback. To fix this problem, use the following settings for the 
  150. audio card: 
  151. Enable game port adapter  OFF
  152. Use 28MHz clock source ON
  153. Enable warm boot  ON
  154. Enable wait states ON
  155.  
  156. 2. If your video card is using the Tseng Labs ET4000/W32x video 
  157. chipset, you might experience problems with the playback of the 
  158. QuickTime digital video segments. The video will appear corrupted. 
  159. To fix this problem do the following: 
  160.  
  161. (a) Open the qtw.ini file inside of the windows directory.
  162.  
  163. (b) Change the line that reads 
  164. "PreferredComponent=c:\windows\system\tseng.qtc" to read, 
  165. "PreferredComponent=c:\windows\system\qtvhdw.qtc"
  166.  
  167. (c) Open the QuickTime control panel from the Windows Control Panel. 
  168. Click on "more." Click the tab at the top that says "Video."  If the 
  169. video does not corrupt, then the solution worked.
  170.  
  171. (3) On machines that do not have "Video for Windows" installed, the 
  172. following message will appear at the digital video segments: "Error 
  173. Cannot Find DCIMAN.DLL." This error is not fatal and the program will 
  174. continue to run after the error is reported. The lack of this DLL 
  175. does not affect the program's operation, it will simply display the 
  176. error message and then continue normally. To fix this error, install 
  177. "Video for Windows."

  251. which the Software is recorded will operate on properly configured 
  252. Macintosh or MS-DOS-compatible computers.  Sky Media/Discovery House 
  253. Publishers’ entire liability, and your exclusive remedy, if the 
  254. Software fails to so operate, is the replacement of the compact 
  255. disc(s) which is returned to Sky Media/Discovery House Publishers, or 
  256. an authorized representative thereof, with a copy of the receipt for 
  257. the purchase of the disc(s) within a period of sixty (60) days after 
  258. the date of purchase as evidenced by the purchase receipt.
